FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Can I bring my pet?
We are sorry, but for the safety and comfort of our farm animals, visitors, and plants, we do not allow visiting pets on the property.
Can I bring my infant?
Our Peony Sip & Stroll is an adults 21+ only event. We have other opportunities to visit the Gardens with your littles, but this particular event is off limits to kids and babies of all ages.
May we have a picnic?
Of course! We encourage this! We will be providing a snack box, but if you’d like to spend more time, and enjoy a picnic in the gardens, feel free to pack a lunch. Bring a blanket to set out on the lawn, or snag one of our bistro tables around the fountain. First come, first served.
Can we cut our own peonies?
We are not a you-pick farm, and so do not allow any guests to cut their own blooms. We will cut them for you, and have them available in The Garden Shop to purchase and take home if you would like. They will be cut at a stage that gives you the longest vase life possible, to enjoy them to their fullest.
Can we bring wine?
We will be providing you with a personal bottle or can of red or white wine (your choice) and to encourage responsible alcohol consumption, do not allow outside wine to be brought in at this time.
Can we take photos?
Absolutely - please do! And tag us in them, for an opportunity to be entered to win a special peony keepsake from our Garden Shop.
Can I see the peonies if I don’t have a ticket?
At this time, we are opening our Gardens for private events only, and a ticket is required to participate in this particular event. So the peonies will be able to viewed by ticketed guests only.
Will the Garden Shop be open?
Yes. Our Garden Shop will be open the same hours as the Sip & Stroll (see ticket for times) and anyone can visit and shop, regardless of whether you have a ticket.
Can I buy peonies?
Of course! Our peonies are only available on site in our Garden Shop. We are currently not offering them anywhere else, and last year we sold out of every single peony stem we cut.
Can I buy your peony plants?
We do not dig and divide our plant stock in the field, as it takes 5 years once a plant is put in the ground to be able to cut flowers. As such, we do not offer our plants grown on site for sale, but we do bring in bare root peonies from a vetted and trusted wholesale grower we have worked with for years. These plants will be available in the fall, and this is the best time to get new peonies into the ground.
When will the fields be in full bloom?
Since we have early blooming, mid-season, and late blooming varieties planted, there is not ever a time when every single plant is in bloom at once. A regular peony season can last 6 weeks, and is quite difficult to predict. We do our best to plan our Sip & Stroll during the most optimal bloom time, when you will be able to see the maximum amount of blooms, but this is not something we have control over. The time they open changes every year, and can fluctuate by as much as 2 months, depending on how warm/cold it is. We are anticipating a later bloom this season, but even at that, we do not have any say over when peonies decide to open.
Why are your peonies bigger/have more blooms than mine?
We put a lot of attention and time into growing healthy root stock, and have spent time disbudding and feeding plants in their early years to grow a more vigorous plant. Our plants are sited in full sun (minimum 6-8 hours a day) so if your plants are not blooming, check to make sure they aren’t in partial or full shade, which will definitely impact blooms, both amount and size.
What if it’s raining?
This event is held, rain or shine. Spring time in Washington can be unpredictable weather, and so we encourage you to dress appropriately for the weather, and enjoy the peonies. They look just as pretty in the rain as they do in the sun!
Can I get a refund or change my date?
We are not able to offer refunds or date changes on this event, due to the complexity of pre-ordering perishable items that we cannot hold from one week to the next. We appreciate you understanding the cost and effort that goes into organizing such an event, and choose the date that works best with your schedule.
