Coming Workshops

the-floral-club
Welcome to "The Floral Club"!

A one time per month gathering to create your own personalized bouquet from seasonal, fresh blooms and foliage grown right here at Laughing Goat Botanical Gardens.

From June - September (4 gatherings) we will get together on the 2nd Saturday of each month as follows:

June 8, 2024

July 13, 2024

August 10, 2024

September 14, 2024

I will host a small group gathering to play with flowers. You will have buckets of cut blooms and foliage to choose from to create your own arrangement, with light supervision from me (this is not a class) and take home with you. I will create an informal 'recipe' with what we have available that you can follow or make your own. Will also include a short demonstration on how to properly harvest from one plant at each gathering. For example: June Peonies.

I promise the blooms will be more generous than what you would get from a pre-arranged bouquet, and will be worth your time, plus, I think it's fun to gather in community and work with your hands and hearts together. We have super beautiful product from our lovingly-tended plants, and it will be fresh, fresh, fresh.

We will hold space for 12, and the price for this is $140 (plus tax, vase not included), for 4 gatherings, 4 bouquets, and 4 short Hort-focused classes on proper pruning/harvesting. There will be a morning session at 10:00am, and afternoon session at 2:00pm to choose from.

You may choose either morning, or afternoon session. There are no substitution dates available, and if you are not able to make one of the scheduled dates, please send someone in your place for that date. No refunds are given on classes, due to holding space.

How do you get started with a garden when you don't know where to begin?

Let Horticulturist and Laughing Goat Director Amy help you simplify, and organize your gardening needs. We have been successfully growing better-than-organic vegetables, herbs and fruits since 2015 on our farm, in both the field and a created raised bed garden.

Whether you are growing in a. backyard, in containers, raised beds, or row planting like a traditional farm, the key to success is planning ahead.

This is a sit-down, planning/dreaming class in which we will walk you through the steps on how to get started, and what to grow in your space.

From physically planning out your spaces, to choosing seeds, including when and how to start them, you will leave with a start to your garden goals for 2024.

Why February? Mid- to late-February is seed-starting time in the PNW, so we want to give you ample time to get your supplies (also discussed) and get a jump start on the growing season. We will primarily discuss annual vegetables, herbs, and flower crops, touching on perennials.

Supplies for planning will be provided, along with links and supply sources.
